A Fire Protection Awareness Programme focusing on “Introduction to Fire Safety & Practical Demonstration” was successfully conducted at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, on 30 September and 01 October 2026.
The programme was organized to enhance awareness and practical knowledge of fire safety, prevention, emergency response procedures, and appropriate actions to be taken during a fire emergency.
The training session was conducted by Mr. Pawan K. Pathmasiri, Training Officer, Fire and Rescue Training Academy, Fire Service Department, Colombo with the collaboration of the Staff Development Center of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura
The programme included both theoretical awareness sessions and practical demonstrations, providing participants with an opportunity to gain hands-on understanding of fire safety procedures and the proper use of fire-fighting equipment.
The programme contributed towards strengthening fire safety awareness and preparedness among the staff and participants of the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
