Renovation of the Long Term Neglected Building Complex

Renovation of the long term neglected building complex and handing over for student usage

A building complex, which was abundant and neglected for a long time due to major water leaks from the slab, was repaired by the financial contribution of Nature and Photography Club of the Faculty of Medical Sciences and All Island Funeral Director’s Association. The human resources and some raw materials were provided through the maintenance unit of the university.

One renovated room was the already existing room of the Nature and Photography Club. There was a long-term need for a space for students to keep their bags and belongings while they are attending to their routine dissections and other laboratory practicals. Fulfilling that requirement, a vacant room next to the existing nature and photography club room was also renovated and converted by installing steel racks with the help of the Student Welfare Committee – FMS, USJ. It was named as the “Bag Drop”.

The renovated building complex was declared open by Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences and handed over to medical, dental and para-medical students on 13th August 2025.
