This workshop was organized by the Department of Medical Education with a view of identifying ways how Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools can enhance education.
This workshop was conducted on 8th January 2024, from 12.00pm to 1.00 pm. at the boardroom of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Total number of 34 academic staff were participated.
After the brief introductory speech by Prof R. B. Marasinghe (Head/Medical Education), the main resource person, Prof. Chinthaka Balasooriya from UNSW Sydney, Australia, initiated the discussion by showing certain advantages of the AI use in Education. He further demonstrated few AI applications that he uses in education. Participants were allowed to discuss the advantages and possible barriers of the AI use in learning teaching and assessment practices. Finally, Prof Manori Gamage, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, appreciated the contribution made by Prof Balasooriya in a voluntary basis. Participants appreciated the opportunity given and expressed willingness to participate further training sessions on this subject.
