CENTRE FOR ADVANCED FORENSIC RESEARCH

The presence of an advanced forensic  research centre will provide an enabling world-class research and innovation with a state-of-the-art equipment and support facility, create an environment where scientific knowledge and technology could be developed, acquired, and explored in order to cater the progressive modernization of the all sectors of the criminal justice system of Sri Lanka, promote quality of the intellectual property through high quality publications and technology transfer, promote multidisciplinary research and innovation culture, and promote the local forensic research standards to a level that matches the global standards.

Vision

To promote high-quality forensic medicine and science research that will have a significant impact on the criminal justice system.

Mission

To focus on advanced technologies in order to uniquely value-add to our science and technology output as well as enabling our graduates to be equally competent and competitive with the other graduates emerging from world-class universities and research backgrounds.

Objectives

  1. Infuse the research culture strongly into academics at a time when innovation and research culture is poorly established in Sri Lankan academic portfolio due to poor infra-structure facilities.
  2. Promote multidisciplinary research and innovation culture.
  3. Promote the local forensic research standards to a level that matches the global standards.
  4. Promote quality of intellectual property through high-quality publications and technology transfer.
  5. Promote Sri Lanka to a global destination in research and innovations.
  6. Provide and enabling world-class research and innovation with state-of-the-art equipment and support facility.
  7. Create an environment where scientific knowledge and technology could be developed, acquired, and explored in order to cater the progressive modernization of all sectors of the criminal justice system of Sri Lanka.
  8. Increase the postgraduate output efficiency.
  9. Increase the potential to attract new funding sources to promote research.
  10. Minimize the barriers to research output.
  11. Establish research collaborations with the local and international research facilities.
