How to enroll into Pre-University Work Experience Programme

Application, payment and registration procedures are all online. Follow the STEPS below.

STEP 1

Check the availability of a vacant slot in your preferred unit and time.

STEP 2

Your parents should contact the Pre-University Work Experience Coordinator via an email (preuniwork@sjp.ac.lk) to confirm the availability of the vacant slot of your preference.

What happens after STEP 2?

The Pre-University Work Experience Coordinator will send a reply email to confirm the availability of the slot of your preference.

STEP 3

  1. Download and sign the Disclaimer form
  2. Fill and submit the online application form along with the duly signed disclaimer form
  3. Following the submission of your application form you will receive a unique reference number 

STEP 4

Pay the Application Process Fee.

Important

Application process fee is non-refundable. Your application will not be processed until you pay the application proccess fee.

What happens after STEP 4?

You should send an email to preuniwork@sjp.ac.lk with the following attachments.

Email subject should be “Registration Documents (Your Reference Number)”.

  1. Copy of the payment slip of the Application Process Fee
  2. Cover letter written by the student explaining her intended learning outcome/s (150-200 words)
  3. Scanned copy of the student support letter (a single page) issued by the school confirming the studentship with the current year of study and the need for the work experience
  4. A scanned copy of the student’s birth certificate
  5. A scanned copy of the current citizenship confirmation document of the student (National Identity Card, Passport etc.)

Your application will be processed. Once your application is accepted and approved, you will receive the Offer Letter signed by the Pre-University Work Experience Coordinator via email. This confirms that a placement in the Pre-University Work Experience programme is reserved for you.

STEP 5

Once you are given the offer letter, you are requested to pay the balance of the Registration Fee (after deducting the Application Process Fee) before commencement.

Important

Any refund of the registration fee will be made only in special circumstances on a case by case basis adhering to the University rules and regulations.

STEP 6

You are expected to meet Deputy Registrar (DR) at the Dean’s Office*, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura with the offer letter and the originals of the uploaded documents (2-5) and the payment slip of the balance of the registration fee.

*Dean’s Office is open on weekdays 9.00 to 16.00 excluding public holidays.

What happens after STEP 6?

Once checking all these documents, the DR will issue the Commencement Letter and other relevant documents to the student to start work.

STEP 7

Show the Commencement Letter given by DR to your supervisor to start the appointment.

STEP 8

Upon successful completion of the voluntary work, the supervisor will issue a Voluntary Work Completion Letter in the relevant Department Letter head through the Dean.
