Research Interests

Dr. Tennakoons’ key interests lie on injuries and related anatomical classifications particularly concerning road traffic crashes. She is keen on population-based studies utilizing mixed research methodologies as the triangulation of research methodologies (combining qualitative and quantitative) strengthens and enhances the validity and reliability of research and provides a comprehensive understanding of the research problems.

She is trained in conducting, analysing and reporting of advanced qualitative health research at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She also has completed “Road Traffic Injury Prevention and Control in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (RTIP”) a training program offered by the Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit that provided an understanding of quantitative and qualitative research in countries such as Sri Lanka.

Dr. Tennakoon is also fascinated doing research in the field of Reproductive biology and Embryology. She has work experience in In-Vitro Fertilization treatment methodologies and continues to work on this field with other scientists.
