Research Committee – 1st Annual Academic Session – 1997

The first Annual Academic Sessions of the Faculty of Medical Sciences were held on 15 and 16 June 1997 at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, marking a significant milestone in the Faculty’s academic and research journey. Professor M. T. M. Jiffry served as the Chairperson of the organising committee for this inaugural event. The inaugural lecture was delivered by the late Professor Carlo Fonseka, whose address set a strong scholarly tone for the sessions and underscored the Faculty’s commitment to academic excellence and research dissemination. This landmark event laid the foundation for the Annual Academic Sessions as a key forum for presenting and advancing medical research within the University.
