RESEARCH COMMITTEE, FMS
History
The first Research Committee of the Faculty of Medical Sciences was established in 1995. The mandate of the Research Committee was to promote research in the newly established Faculty.
Prof. E.R Jansz was appointed as the chairperson of the Research Committee while Dr. Hemantha Peiris was appointed as the secretary. The first Annual Academic Sessions of the Faculty of Medical Sciences were held on the 15th and 16th June 1997 at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The late Prof. M.T.M. Jiffry served as the chairperson of the organizing committee. The inaugural lecture was delivered by the late Prof. Carlo Fonseka. The 16th Annual Conference will be held on 8th & 9th June 2023 organized by the Research committee of the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
