The Buddhist Society of the faculty organizes several activities throughout the year.

Of these the main event is the annual pirith ceremony. This is conducted with the contribution of staff and students of the faculty, for the merit of those who have donated bodies to the department of anatomy, for the purpose of dissection and to bless the junior batch on their journey.

 

 

Donations to the Cancer Hospital at Maharagama

 

Annually donations such as dry rations, clothes and commodities are collected from the students and staff and distributed among patients. They are also provided with dinner.

 

 

Stethoscope Scholarship

 

Buddhist society gives donations for purchase of stethoscopes and a book scholarship for the phase 2 students.

 

 

Bodhi Pooja

 

These are conducted as a blessing to the students sitting for exams.

 

 

Dharma Discussions

 

The Buddhist Society provides the opportunity for a dharma discussion to all staff members and students of the faculty.
