  • Antibiotic utilization patterns in the Teaching Hospitals in the Western Province Sri Lanka.
  • Epidemiology of acute self poisoning in the Western Province, Sri Lanka.
  • Epidemiology of acute self poisoning in the Tea Country Sri Lanka.
  • Respiratory Failure in Acute Organophosphate Poisoning.
  • Clinical, Electrophysiological and Biochemical correlates of Intermediate Syndrome (IMS) following Organophosphate (OP) Poisoning.
    Areas investigated
    1. Pathological mechanisms that occur at the neuromuscular junction following OP exposure.
    2. Develop neurophysiological parameters to predict the development of IMS.
    3. Develop a toxicokinetic and toxicodynamic model to predict IMS in OP poisoning.
    4. Develop clinical predictors for IMS/ late respiratory failure.
    5. Develop a pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic model to predict IMS with RBC acetylcholinesterase levels.
  • Electrophysiological Monitoring of the Effects of Pralidoxime in Organophosphate poisoning
    1. Neuromuscular function in OP poisoning.
    2. Effects of Pralidoxime on neuromuscular transmission failure.
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
    Conducted at Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH), Sri Lanka.
    1. prevalence of ADHD in Sri Lanka
    2. severity of symptoms, Problems experienced by children with ADHD & their families after 6 weeks and 6 months of Methylphenidate.
    3. salivary cortisol level in ADHD children.
